First posts are like breaking the ice moments, you want to make the right noises but are not sure if it is the right topic to build raport with the reader. I think more than anything else, you want to make sure that its not the last post that the visitor reads!
However… as I sway in all directions on the London underground, thinking of the words to put down for my first post, I can’t help but notice the gloomy and dull nature on the train. Not that I expect a carnival atmosphere on the first working day of the week, but people look as if the have just come from a funeral. A number of non-Londoners notice and comment on this fairly regularly, and it is a stigma that has stuck with us Londoners. I am one of London’s many adopted children, and although at no other place (UK or otherwise) have I seen passengers jumping for joy, they sure aren’t having such a sulk as they do in London.
Tuesday is generally squash day after work. Squash is a sport that I picked up towards the latter end of my university life, and have learnt to love it. I don’t do gyms, so squash turns out to be a perfect form of exercise. I didn’t go to play squash today because I felt lazy (doh!).
Like many, I find the describe yourself idea quite tedious. I believe that others are a better judge of me than myself. However I would still describe myself in 5 words
Trustworthy
Loving
Determined
Observant
Inquisitive
I think that should cover me on all bases. I may not be as articulate as others, but you would want me on your team – TRUST me on that one!
Now that the dreaded first post has been done and dusted… it’s time to play ball!
(For those who are not familliar with the first pitch)
